AFT News Axesstel Announces Commercial Availability of Portable EV-DO Rev A USB Modems for Home and Travel Use
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axesstel, Inc. (AMEX:AFT), a leader in the design and development of fixed wireless voice and broadband data products, today announced commercial availability of the MV100 Series of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A USB Modems at CTIA Wireless 2007. Small enough to slip into a shirt pocket, the sleek new MV100 series USB modems, provide consumers and mobile professionals with fixed wireless and mobile access to email, the Internet and multimedia streaming at speeds up to 3.1 Mbps. Axesstel will be conducting live demonstrations of the MV140 (800/1900 MHz) Dual-Band USB Modem in Booth 4569, in the Enterprise Mobility Pavilion at CTIA Wireless being held in Orlando, FL from March 27 – 29, 2007.
The versatile USB modem allows fixed wireless and mobile operators to increase average revenue per unit (ARPU) from data services by attracting subscribers needing broadband data access from home and while traveling.
“Operators from all over the globe are excited about our new MV100 Series USB Modems. In fact, operators in Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Venezuela are all actively testing the device,” said Stephen Sek, chief technology officer for Axesstel, Inc. “We look forward to expanding our reach to operators in both emerging and developed markets by providing a solution to increase their ARPU while enabling professional and SOHO subscribers remote access to voice and broadband data from their homes or offices.”
The MV100 series USB modems including the MV110 (450 MHz), MV140A (800 MHz), MV140B (1900 MHz) and MV140 (800/1900 MHz), address the demand from fixed wireless and mobile carriers for a terminal device that provides the flexibility of voice and broadband data access from a fixed or mobile environment. The MV100 series modems are designed with a USB connector to allow for connectivity to voice, text messaging and broadband data from a desktop PC at a home or small office, or from a laptop, allowing mobile professionals to stay productive virtually anywhere, at any time while traveling.
The MV100 Series Modems come integrated with personal information management (PIM), Outlook® Sync and modem manager software that are installed directly from the MV100 Series Modem to the desktop PC or laptop when the modem is first plugged in. The user installation experience is simplified by providing plug-and-play connectivity without the need of installing software from a CD.
The MV100 Series is backward compatible to CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev 0 and CDMA2000 1X to ensure subscribers maintain high-speed connectivity in areas where a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A network is not yet available. The dual-band (800/1900 MHz) functionality of the MV140 allows users to connect to networks worldwide. A USB cable, packaged with the device, allows users to position the modem away from the noisiness of the laptop to increase transmission gain, a performance not possible with dongle-type USB modems. An internal battery and receive diversity antennas further maximize data throughput and extend network coverage range from fringe areas. These design advantages allow operators to provide a better user experience and increase the number of subscribers that can be served by their network.
Additional features of the Axesstel MV100 Series USB Modems include:
Voice and text messaging capability when connected to a laptop or desktop PC
Personal information management functionality and synchronization with MS Outlook® phonebook simplifies communications
Compatibility with virtual private networks secures data transmissions
Slim and compact design fits into a jacket pocket or brief case for easy portability
Color LCD enables quick viewing of network coverage status without having to open modem manager software from the laptop
Axesstel will demonstrate the MV140 USB Modem and the MV440 3G Gateway at Booth 4569 in the Enterprise Mobility Pavilion located in Hall B4 at CTIA Wireless 2007 being held March 27 - 29, 2007 at the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
