AFT News Axesstel Receives Purchase Order from CellularOne for MV420 3G Gateways
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axesstel, Inc. (AMEX:AFT), a leader in the design and development of fixed wireless voice and broadband data products, today announced a purchase order from Bermuda Digital Communications Ltd. ("BDC"), under its CellularOne brand, for its new MV420 (800 MHz) 3G Gateway. Axesstel is scheduled to begin shipments to BDC in April. The MV420 3G Gateway will be available at CellularOne offices in Bermuda beginning early May.
When connected to BDC’s recently launched CellularOne CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A network, the MV420 will provide consumers and businesses in Bermuda with wire-free access to broadband data at speeds up to 3.1 mega bits per second (Mbps) from any room in the home or office or from a remote work location.
Axesstel will demonstrate the speed and convenience of its MV440 (800/1900 MHz) 3G Gateway in Booth 4569, in the Enterprise Mobility Pavilion at CTIA Wireless 2007 being held in Orlando from March 27 -- 29, 2007.
“The quality and reliability we experienced with Axesstel’s Rev O modems strongly factored into our decision to purchase the new 3G gateway,” said Kurt Eve, chairman and chief executive officer for BDC. “By offering the MV420, we will now have the opportunity to increase subscriber numbers by serving more market segments including residential, SOHO, small business and some vertical market businesses needing broadband access while working remotely across the island.”
“Booking the first purchase order on our MV400 Series from CellularOne, an existing customer and well respected operator, is a strong testament to the quality, reliability and innovation of Axesstel’s broadband data solutions,” said Murray Kawchuk, senior vice president of sales and corporate marketing for Axesstel. “We are seeing an increased number of operators worldwide currently testing our 3G gateways and broadband USB modems, and anticipate announcing more wins as operators complete testing.”
Axesstel’s MV400 Series 3G Gateways are currently being tested by operators in China, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the Ukraine and Venezuela. The MV100 Series USB Modems are currently being tested in Indonesia, Guatemala, Venezuela, Malaysia, Thailand and India.
The MV400 series, including the MV410 (450 MHz), MV420 (800 MHz), MV430 (1900 MHz) and MV440 (800/1900 MHz), combines CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A, a Wi-Fi router, and a four port Ethernet switch. The gateways are an easy to use, integrated desktop networking device that connects multiple desktop and laptop PCs to broadband data at speeds up to 3.1 mega bits per second (Mbps). They address the demand from fixed wireless and mobile carriers for a terminal device that enables them to offer residential, small office/home office (SOHO), enterprise and commercial customers a viable high-speed alternative to dial up, integrated services digital network (ISDN) and digital subscriber line (DSL).
Integrated with an 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi router, the MV400 series gateways offer laptop users the convenience of wireless connectivity to broadband data from any room in a home or office. The gateways enable easy set up of a local hotspot for a variety of applications in small business, enterprise, retail, public transportation, emergency response and other vertical market environments.
Engineered with a sleek new desktop and wall-mountable design, the MV400 series provide broadband access to email, the Internet, data intensive photos and graphics, and multi-media streaming. Backward compatibility to CDMA2000 1X Rev 0 and CDMA2000 1X ensures that subscribers maintain high-speed connectivity in areas where a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A network is not yet available.
Without any software drivers to install, a four port Ethernet (RJ-45) router provides a user-friendly, plug-and-play solution that enables users to network multiple laptop and desktop PCs for streamlined access to high-speed data. A USB port provides an additional data connection point. The dual-band (800/1900 MHz) functionality of the MV440 provides compatibility with networks worldwide.
