AFT News Axesstel and Bakrie Telecom Partner to Increase Access to Affordable Telecommunication Services in Indonesia
SAN DIEGO & JAKARTA, Indonesia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axesstel, Inc. (AMEX:AFT), a leader in the design and development of
fixed wireless voice and broadband data products, and PT Bakrie Telecom
Tbk (BTEL), the fastest growing fixed wireless telecom operator in
Indonesia, today announced the new BTEL Wifone fixed wireless service is
being bundled with the Axesstel L800F and P830 CDMA2000 1X Fixed
Wireless Desktop Phones to make quality, affordable voice and data
services more broadly available to consumers and businesses in urban,
rural and underserved regions within BTEL licensed areas throughout
Indonesia. Shipments of the Axesstel L800F and P830 have already begun
and the Wifone service was launched in late September.
The current population in Indonesia is estimated to be over 220 million
with a landline penetration of only four percent. Bakrie Telecom’s
CDMA2000 1X fixed wireless network provides a superior solution to
costly landline network alternatives by enabling greater flexibility in
physical deployment, lower capital expenditures for infrastructure and
reduced time to market. These advantages allow Bakrie Telecom to pass
along the savings to its customers and provide immediate access to
quality voice and data services.
“The launch of our Wifone fixed wireless
service, with 35 value-added benefits, will enable us to meet high
consumer demand for affordable telecommunications services in this under
penetrated fixed line market,” said Satyadev
Sarvaiya, vice president, fixed wireless service for Bakrie Telecom. “Bundled
with Axesstel L800F and P830 phones, Wifone offers our customers
handphone features at landline rates and also provides immediate access
to telecommunication services for their home or office without the long
wait for a network connection from a landline provider.”
“Indonesia’s low
teledensity rate presents tremendous potential for growth in
telecommunications services. The technical, financial and time to market
advantages of Bakrie’s CDMA fixed wireless
network paired with the quality and quick set-up of our phones offer a
complete solution to meet untapped market demand in this region,”
said Marv Tseu, chief executive officer for Axesstel. “Our
new P830 and L-series phones have enabled us to gain innovative operator
partners like Bakrie Telecom, further diversify our global customer base
and increase our market penetration in Indonesia, one of the fastest
growing fixed wireless markets in the world.”
The rugged, dust-resistant L800F is an entry level, low cost phone
targeted at first time users and features voice calling, short messaging
and an FM radio for news and music. The P830 is designed to appeal to
users looking for more robust voice and data services with feature rich
functionality. The P830 features a built-in FM radio with automatic
station search and 10-station memory presets, an integrated alarm
function, and large four-line liquid crystal display to enable quick and
easy text messaging. When connected to a desktop PC or laptop, the P830
provides high-speed data access at speeds up to 153.6 kbps.
