AFT News Axesstel Announces Availability of 3G Gateways Converging EV-DO Rev A Data, Wi-Fi Router and Ethernet Switch
HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axesstel, Inc. (AMEX:AFT), a leader in the design and development of
fixed wireless voice and broadband data products, today announced the
availability of the MV400 Series of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A Wireless
Broadband Gateways, which offer consumer and business users Wi-Fi access
to broadband data from any room in the home or office. The MV400 series
3G gateways provide subscribers with a more viable and flexible
alternative to conventional land-line services and enable operators in
emerging and developed countries worldwide to increase average revenue
per unit (ARPU). Homologation units for operators are scheduled to be
available at the end of December; a limited quantity of commercial
shipments of the first models in the series will be available in
February; and general availability will be in March. Axesstel will be
exhibiting the MV400 series at ITU Telecom World, being held in Hong
Kong from December 4-8, 2006.
“The MV400 series provides consumers and
businesses with a more robust and versatile alternative to traditional
wire-line services,” commented Marv Tseu,
chief executive officer for Axesstel. “Adding
this 3G Wi-Fi gateway to their product offerings, allows operators to
better leverage their wireless broadband networks and increase ARPU. In
emerging regions, the gateways enable operators to provide broadband
data access where service is either limited or non-existent. In
industrialized countries, operators can offer their residential and
business subscribers convenient broadband access from multiple desktop
or laptop PCs throughout the home or office.
“The MV400 further diversifies our broadband
product portfolio, enabling us to increase product margins and expand
our addressable market to industrialized regions,”
added Tseu.
The MV400 series, including the MV410 (450 MHz), MV420 (800 MHz), MV430
(1900 MHz) and MV440 (800/1900 MHz), combines CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A
wireless wide area networking (WWAN), a Wi-Fi wireless local area
networking (WLAN) router, and a four port Ethernet switch. The gateways
are an easy-to-use, integrated desktop networking device that connects
multiple desktop and laptop PCs to broadband data at speeds up to 3.1
mega bits per second (Mbps). They address the demand from fixed wireless
and mobile carriers for a terminal device that enables them to offer
residential, small office/home office (SOHO), enterprise and commercial
customers a viable high-speed alternative to dial up, integrated
services digital network (ISDN) and digital subscriber line (DSL).
Integrated with an 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi router, the MV400 series gateways
offer laptop users the convenience of wireless connectivity to broadband
data from any room in a home or office. These products enable easy set
up of a local hotspot for a variety of applications in small business,
enterprise, retail, public transportation, emergency response and other
vertical market environments.
Engineered with a sleek new desktop and wall-mountable design, the MV400
series provide broadband access to email, the Internet, data-intensive
photos and graphics, and multimedia streaming. The gateways are backward
compatible to CDMA2000 1X Rev 0 and CDMA2000 1X to ensure subscribers
maintain high-speed connectivity in areas where a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A
network is not yet available.
Without any software drivers to install, a four-port Ethernet (RJ-45)
router provides a user-friendly, plug-and-play solution that enables
users to network multiple laptop and desktop PCs for streamlined access
to high-speed data. A USB port provides an additional data connection
point. The dual-band (800/1900 MHz) functionality of the MV440 provides
compatibility with networks worldwide.
Additional features of the Axesstel MV400 series 3G gateways include:
Compatibility with other LAN and WLAN networking devices to further
expand device networking capability
Two Wi-Fi antennas and two receive diversity antennas to maximize data
throughput and network accessibility in fringe areas
Six LEDs indicate power, signal, connection, 1xEV-DO mode, Ethernet
and Wi-Fi status
An optional back-up battery enables wire-free use in any room and
ensures uninterrupted data connectivity

Wireless Phones in Stand 2001.4, in the USA Pavilion located in Hall 2
at ITU Telecom World 2006, being held December 4-8, 2006, at the Asia
