Produce Safety & Security International, Inc.
(PINKSHEETS: PRSF) is pleased to announce that the Company has shipped its
Ozone Spray system to METSS Corp. to undergo research and lab testing for
the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Department of Energy SBIR trials. The Ozone
Spray system, which has a total value of $35,000, will arrive at METSS
Corp. labs by the beginning of next week.
Under the agreement, Produce Safety will assist METSS' work for the U.S.
Government's SBIR trials for an onsite sterilizing solutions production
system. The Company will support METSS with engineering assistance and
processing techniques associated with the Ozone Spray system for the
removal of E.coli, Salmonella, and other bacteria from fresh produce, meat
and poultry. This process also extends the shelf life from 5 to 20 days
depending on the product. METSS has provided innovative environmental
solutions and consulting, ranging from basic testing to specialized
research and development, for over 10 years.
"We are excited to deliver the first unit of the Ozone Spray to METSS for
research and testing in the SBIR trials. We believe that this is a major
stepping stone for our Ozone Spray technology and will increase demand for
our products as food-borne illness has become a hot topic nationwide,"
stated Clarence W. Karney, CEO of Produce Safety & Security International,
Inc.
The Company recently announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding
with the Institute for Nutraceutical Research (INR) at Clemson University.
Under the agreement, the INR and Produce Safety will conduct research and
development in hopes of benefitting from each organization's findings using
laboratory and field studies. The overall goal is to pursue research
opportunities in food safety and security with the U.S. Government and
other international entities.
