Neoprobe Corporation is engaged in the development and commercialization of surgical and diagnostic products. The Company manufactures two lines of medical devices: a line of gamma radiation detection equipment used in the application of intraoperative lymphatic mapping (ILM) and a line of blood flow monitoring devices for a variety of diagnostic and surgical applications. Neoprobe's gamma detection device products are marketed through a distribution arrangement with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. (EES), a Johnson and Johnson company. The Company's blood flow measurement device product line is in the early stages of commercialization. RIGScan CR49, a drug used in connection with gamma detection devices in cancer surgeries, is used to help surgeons locate cancerous tissue during colorectal cancer surgeries. Another drug, Lymphoseek, is used in tracing the spread of certain solid tumor cancers.
