Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is engaged in the research, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical products. It distributes its products on a worldwide basis primarily through a direct sales force in the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel and primarily through third-party license and distribution relationships elsewhere. Savient has assembled a portfolio of therapeutic products, many of which are being marketed, several of which are in registration or clinical trials and one of which is in pre-clinical development. Pre-clinical studies, research and development activities and manufacturing of its biotechnology-derived products are primarily carried out through Bio-Technology General (Israel) Ltd. (BTG-Israel), its wholly owned subsidiary in Israel. Development, manufacture, distribution and sale of its oral liquid products are principally carried out through Rosemont in the United Kingdom.
