Intuitive Surgical, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets the da Vinci Surgical System. In addition, the Company designs, manufactures and markets a variety of smart disposable EndoWrist instruments. The Company's principal products are the da Vinci Surgical System, EndoWrist Instruments and products offered by Computer Motion Inc. Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci Surgical System consists of a surgeon's console, a patient-side cart, a high performance vision system and proprietary wristed instruments. The da Vinci Surgical System seamlessly translates the surgeon's natural hand movements on instrument controls at a console into corresponding micro-movements of instruments positioned inside the patient through small puncture incisions or ports. In June 2003, the Company acquired Computer Motion, Inc., a provider of proprietary robotic and computerized surgical systems.
