SL Industries, Inc. engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of power electronics, power motion, power protection, teleprotection, and communications equipment and systems primarily in the United States. It produces a range of standard and custom power supply products that convert AC or DC power to direct electrical current to be used in customers' end products. The company also designs and manufactures customized power conditioning and power distribution units, which provide voltage conversion and stabilization, system control, and power distribution for systems, such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scanners, chip testers, and industrial systems. In addition, SL Industries designs and manufactures high power density precision motors; teleprotection products/systems for protection of utility transmission lines and apparatus by isolating faulty transmission lines from a transmission grid; and provides customer service and maintenance for electric utility equipment protection systems. Its products are used by original equipment manufacturers and commercial distributors, as well as by the electric power utility industry in various applications, including medical, aerospace, computer, datacom, industrial, telecom, transportation, and electric power utility equipment. The company was incorporated as G-L Electronics Company in 1956 and changed its name to G-L Industries, Inc. in 1963. Later, it changed its name to SGL Industries, Inc. in 1970 and to SL Industries, Inc. in 1984. SL Industries is based in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
