Re: Re: Dear Cramer, on Immersion
Immersion responded with a white paper stating that in a test scenario
reflecting typical daily use of a mobile phone–including a mix of voice
calling, text messaging, and gameplay–the VibeTonz-enabled handset used
1.20% more power than the same handset without. The end result was that
it would be about a 15 minute power difference in a 20 hour timeframe.
The study also explained that the VibeTonz-generated vibration consumes
the same or less power than the actuator's normal vibration since it
can vary in magnitude, frequency, waveshape, and duration. So, this
boils down potentially 15 minutes less of battery power or potentially
even longer battery life, depending on your usage scenario. Either way
I'd say that it's definitely worth the extra “sensations.”
