VTSS News Hitachi, Ltd. Selects Vitesse NexSAS(TM) Storage IC Solutions for Enterprise Servers
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hitachi has selected Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation’s
(Pink Sheets:VTSS) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) storage technology to
power its “Bladesymphony”
Blade Server and PC Server platforms. Using the Vitesse NexSAS™
brand of storage IC solutions, the new Hitachi SAS-based servers
capitalize on the superior performance and flexibility of Vitesse’s
SAS technology to meet its architecture needs and deliver a new level of
value to customers.
“As companies like Hitachi embark on their
SAS server and enclosure design and development activities, robust
offerings like those from Vitesse make component decisions much easier,”
said Masayuki Nakamura, general manager, Enterprise Server Division at
Hitachi. “Vitesse has leveraged their
enterprise-class Fibre Channel expertise and Serial ATA (SATA) cost
structures to provide a truly unique offering to Hitachi and the greater
SAS market. By using Vitesse SAS products, Hitachi can successfully and
quickly release SAS technology-supported systems to the market.”
“As the front-runner in enterprise storage
and storage networking today, Vitesse brings tremendous credibility to
SAS as an enterprise storage technology,”
said Tim Hornback, vice president and general manager, Storage Products
Division at Vitesse. “By combining our
expertise in high-performance signaling, our leadership position in
Fibre Channel, our extensive enclosure management hardware and software
offering, and an active partnering program (comprised of leading system
OEMs, and purveyors of SAS initiators, competitive SAS expanders, and
SAS targets), Vitesse can guarantee ease of solution deployment in an
emerging technology and market landscape.”
The Vitesse NexSAS family of end-to-end SAS solutions is based on a
common software and hardware architecture, allowing OEMs to easily scale
designs across port densities, functional requirements, and applications
while leveraging existing software and firmware. This architectural
flexibility provides OEMs with accelerated time-to-market and
maximized time-in-market through reuse of designs and
firmware/software. Targeted at both enterprise server and storage
enclosure applications, Vitesse delivers all of the features needed to
build enterprise storage solutions that leverage both SAS and SATA
technology today.
