VTSS News Vitesse NexSAS(TM) Storage IC Solutions to Power HP Storage Subsystems

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Pink Sheets:VTSS), a leader in enterprise storage ICs, today announced that its Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) storage technology will power the storage subsystems in the new HP StorageWorks 60 Modular Smart Array (MSA60) and the HP ProLiant DL320s server.

“We are very pleased to be engaged with a customer as technology savvy as HP,” said Tim Hornback, vice president and general manager, Storage Products Division, Vitesse. “As front runners in enterprise storage and storage networking, Vitesse and HP bring tremendous credibility to SAS as the coming storage technology of choice for both small and medium business and the enterprise.”

Vitesse’s NexSAS family of end-to-end SAS solutions are based on a common software and hardware architecture allowing OEMs to easily scale designs across port densities, functional requirements, and applications while leveraging existing software and firmware. This architectural flexibility provides OEMs with accelerated time-to-market and maximized time-in-market through reuse of designs and firmware/software. Targeted at both enterprise server and storage enclosure applications, Vitesse delivers all of the features needed to build enterprise storage solutions that leverage both SAS and Serial ATA (SATA) technology today.

“Through our collaboration to develop industry standards for SAS solutions, we’ve accelerated our time-to-market by leveraging the common architecture of Vitesse’s SAS IC solutions across multiple HP storage designs,” said Curt Belusar, director of product development, Storage, Networks and Infrastructure, HP. “Through an innovative combination of its enterprise storage expertise developed in Fibre Channel and its superior I/O, Vitesse is delivering a truly unique product offering to the SAS market.”
