PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2006--Avnet Memec, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, the largest operating group of Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announces it has been named Distributor of the Year by Finisar Corp. (Nasdaq: FNSR), a technology leader in gigabit fiber optic solutions for high-speed data networks. This award is based upon North American Fiscal 2006 sales, in which Avnet Memec increased demand-creation sales of Finisar's optical transceivers tenfold.
