OCNW News Occam Networks Named the Solution of Choice at American Broadband & Telecommunications
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Occam Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:OCNW), a leading supplier of innovative
Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications
companies, announced today that American Broadband & Telecommunications
(AMBT) has selected Occam Networks to assist in offering integrated
voice and data services, with a potential upgrade to Triple Play
services in the future. American Broadband & Telecommunications is a
competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) serving northwest Ohio and
southeast Michigan.
“We studied a variety of solutions to expand
our service offerings to include voice and required a solution that was
IP-based, easy to provision and easy to turn up,”
said Chris Slaght, Vice President of Operations at AMBT. “We
reviewed the capabilities of several equipment providers and were most
impressed with the features and functionality of the Occam BLC 6000
solution.”
American Broadband & Telecommunications was founded in 2003 to provide
advanced telecom and broadband services to the underserved rural and
suburban markets in Ohio and Michigan and now services over 10,000
business and residential customers throughout its footprint. As part of
AMBT’s move to a facilities based provider,
AMBT upgraded its existing platform with the Occam BLC 6252 to offer
lifeline POTS and DSL. The BLC 6252 ADSL2Plus Blade provides 48 ports of
ADSL2Plus with Lifeline POTS on the same physical interface to deliver
voice, data and video services. Subscriber DSL and POTS ports combine
with Gigabit Ethernet transport capabilities, which will enable AMBT to
easily upgrade its network again to include video for a complete set of
Triple Play services in the future.
“We are a fast-growing company and were eager
to partner with an equipment provider that could both meet our immediate
needs as well as provide solutions that are scalable for the future,”
Mr. Ansted continued. “Occam’s
BLC solution delivered on both scores –
supplying the best solution for our move to offer voice now, as well as
offering a clear migration path to offer Triple Play down the road.”
“Occam has a long history of helping Service
Providers evolving to provide voice and other services, AMBT is an
excellent example of an ISP evolving into a total services provider,”
said Russ Sharer, vice president of marketing for Occam Networks. “We
have developed products like the BLC 6252 specifically for companies
that recognize that the future of service providers are the delivery of
voice and high speed IP services such as IPTV.”
