OCNW News Ten Ontario IOCs Upgrade Their Networks With Occam Networks' BLC 6000
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Occam Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:OCNW), a leading supplier of innovative
Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications
companies, announced today that ten local telcos in Canada’s
Ontario province have selected Occam Network’s
BLC 6000 solution to upgrade their networks. Occam has seen tremendous
success in Ontario over the last 18 months, and is now serving
two-thirds of its independent telcos.
"We selected the Occam platform because it offers the most flexibility
of any BLC product of which we are aware,”
said Wayne Lynch, Manager of Transport Infrastructure for Ontera. “We
are very pleased to have found a single product from which we can
deliver such a wide array of services over an IP network.”
In addition to Ontera, Occam’s nine additional
new carrier customers in Ontario include:
Cochrane Telecom Services
Execulink Inc.
Gosfield North Communications Co-op Ltd.
Huron Telecommunications Co-operative, Ltd.
Nexicom Group
North Renfrew Telecom
Quadro Communications
Roxborough Telephone Company Ltd.
Wtc Communications (Westport)
Together, the ten telcos support more than 35,000 access lines in
Ontario. Most of these operators are utilizing the Occam BLC 6252 blade.
The BLC 6252 provides 48 ports of ADSL2Plus with Lifeline POTS on the
same physical interface to deliver voice, data and video services.
Subscriber DSL and POTS ports combine with four ports of resilient
Gigabit Ethernet transport capabilities to position the 6252-02 Blade as
the Triple Play workhorse for the future.
For the future, all are preparing to offer full Triple Play services as
soon as an IPTV feed is available in Ontario, the telcos are also
preparing to migrate to fiber to the premises (FTTP).
“Ontario is an important area for Occam growth
as these carriers prepare for both IPTV and fiber deployment,”
said Russ Sharer, vice president of marketing for Occam Networks. “Engineers
at these carriers understand that Occam offers the most flexible,
scalable value proposition available today.”
