AET News Aetna Names Robert M. Mead Senior Vice President of Communications and Strategic Marketing
HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna (NYSE: AET) today announced that Robert M. Mead has been appointed
senior vice president of Communications and Strategic Marketing. Mead
joins Aetna from Brunswick Group LLP, a leading international corporate
and financial communications consulting firm. He replaces Roger Bolton,
who retired in December 2006.
Mead will lead a newly combined group that will include the
Communications, Strategic Marketing and Corporate Public Involvement
organizations. He will be responsible for effectively integrating and
influencing communications across a broad array of key constituents --
including customers, health care providers, employees,
brokers/consultants, the media and public policymakers. Mead also will
join Aetna’s newly formed Executive Committee,
which will act as the senior governing body for the company.
“Robert has broad experience across public and
private sectors and a strong background as a successful business
consultant to numerous Fortune 500 companies,”
said Ronald A. Williams, Aetna chairman and CEO. “I
am confident he will add a valuable dimension to our senior team and
make a strong contribution toward making sure Aetna’s
value proposition is well understood by all of our constituencies.”
“Aetna is the industry leader in transforming
how health care in America is delivered and shaping how it will be
delivered in the future,” said Mead. “I
have been particularly impressed by the company’s
willingness to be at the forefront in product innovation and in taking
forward-thinking policy positions that advance the national dialogue on
health care. This is a significant opportunity to join Aetna’s
senior management team and to make a contribution in advancing the
company’s future growth.”
Prior to joining Brunswick in 2005, Mead was the president and CEO of
Gavin Anderson & Co., an Omnicom subsidiary and global consulting firm
specializing in financial, corporate and public affairs. In his career,
Mead has consulted with many high profile organizations and
corporations, including the United Nations, Caremark, Morgan Stanley,
United Airlines, Prudential, General Motors, The Hartford, Standard &
Poor's, Zurich Financial and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
