The unnamed passenger told the crew of Thomas Cook flight TCX964L Saturday he might be able to fix a problem on a Boeing (NYSE:BA) 757-200 after the pilot announced a technical problem could delay the flight by up to eight hours, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.
The newspaper said the man identified himself a qualified engineer and he was able to resolve the problem, with the Menorca-to-Glasgow landing in Scotland only 35 minutes late.
A Thomas Cook spokeswoman told the Telegraph the airline followed procedures to check the man's license, ensuring he was qualified. The passenger reportedly turned out to be an employee of Thomsonfly, which has a reciprocal maintenance agreement with Thomas Cook.
