GLW News Corning Announces New Member of Management Committee

CORNING, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) announced today that Lawrence D. McRae, senior vice president, strategy and corporate development, has become a member of Corning’s Management Committee. McRae reports to James B. Flaws, vice chairman and chief financial officer, and Peter F. Volanakis, chief operating officer.

McRae has been with Corning since 1985. He has served in a wide range of leadership positions across a broad variety of business divisions. He is a member of the board of directors for Dow Corning Corporation. He also serves as Corning’s lead director for two other key equity ventures: Samsung Corning and Samsung Corning Precision.

The Management Committee is a seven-member group which sets and deploys the strategic direction of the company. Management Committee members are responsible for developing Corning’s annual operating priorities and plan. Members also serve as lead representatives for the company with key external stakeholders, such as investors, customers, communities, governments, partners and industry groups.

The Management Committee is led by Chief Executive Officer Wendell P. Weeks. Other members include Flaws; Volanakis; Kirk Gregg, executive vice president and chief administrative officer; Dr. Joseph A. Miller Jr., executive vice president and chief technology officer; and Pamela C. Schneider, senior vice president and operations chief of staff.

“Larry brings a unique blend of strategic, commercial and operations experience to the Management Committee,” said Wendell P. Weeks, president and chief executive officer. “He will contribute an important point of view, particularly in the area of strategic oversight of our equity investments.”

McRae holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Morgan State University and a master’s degree from Harvard University. Prior to joining Corning, he was a senior accountant with Price Waterhouse.
