GM News VIDEO from Medialink and General Motors: The Newest Girl Scout Merit Badge
--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Girl Scouts in a car service garage? No, they are not selling cookies.
They are earning a first-of-its-kind merit badge - automotive. Most Girl
Scouts are too young to drive a car. But, that doesn't mean it's not
important for them to have knowledge about something they probably ride
in everyday - and will even drive at some point in their lives.
Cadets can earn their 'Car Sense Badge' by taking a more proactive
approach in preventative maintenance. They learn how to do things like
changing the oil and checking tire pressure.
This badge is one way to encourage and teach children about
non-traditional career paths. There are many opportunities available in
the automotive business, as carmakers need workers at all levels - from
design to engineering; to sales and service. General Motors is
supporting the Girl Scout Car Care badge by hosting clinics at
dealerships nationwide.
