IHS News IHS Appoints C. Michael Armstrong as Lead Independent Director

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a leading global provider of critical technical information, decision-support tools, and strategic services, today announced that C. Michael Armstrong has been appointed as lead independent director of IHS.

The appointment of Mr. Armstrong as lead independent director follows the recent announcement by IHS that Jerre L. Stead, executive chairman of the board, has assumed the additional role of chief executive officer of IHS.

Mr. Armstrong has served as a member of the IHS board since December 2003 and chairs the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

Mr. Armstrong is the retired Chairman of Comcast and the retired Chairman & CEO of AT&T and Hughes Electronics. Prior to these positions, he spent more than three decades with IBM, retiring as Chairman of the Board of the IBM World Trade Corporation.

Mr. Armstrong is Chairman of Johns Hopkins Medicine, Hospital and Health System, Chairman of SV Investment Partners, and is on the board of directors of Citigroup Inc., HCA Inc., Parsons Corporation and the Telluride Foundation, and is Vice Chairman of Johns Hopkins University.
