PKI News Richard F. Begley Named Vice President and General Manager of PerkinElmer Analytical Sciences
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE: PKI), a global leader in Health Sciences and Photonics, today announced that Richard F. Begley, Ph.D., has joined the Company as vice president and general manager of its Analytical Sciences business. In this position, he will develop and lead the growth strategy globally for the organization’s entire portfolio of analytical instrumentation which includes chromatography, atomic and molecular spectroscopy, thermal analysis and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Begley joins PerkinElmer from Ensemble Discovery, an innovator in DNA programmed chemistry used in drug discovery, where he held the positions of president and chief executive officer. Prior to this, he served as CEO and president of 454 Life Sciences, a developer of instruments, consumables, software and services for rapidly sequencing the human genome. Begley held senior management positions with Agilent/Hewlett-Packard, including director of manufacturing, general manager of its Chemical Solutions and Mass Spectrometry units, and head of Worldwide R&D for the Chemical Analysis Group. In addition, he has served with Schlumberger and Los Alamos National Laboratories.

Begley holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics, a master’s degree in Applied Physics and an Executive MBA, all from Stanford University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Fordham University.
