SI News Siemens Communications Inc. and Nokia Engage to Deliver Enhanced Business Mobility

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Siemens Communications Inc. (NYSE:SI) announced today an agreement between Siemens Communications and the Enterprise Solutions business group of Nokia to work together to ensure interoperability between Siemens HiPath MobileConnect Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) Solution and dual-mode Nokia Eseries devices and Nokia Intellisync Device Management Software. This agreement, executed as part of Siemens' Open Communications strategy, brings together two leaders in mobile enterprise communications technology to create the best in class enterprise FMC solution. The complete solution will include Siemens’ award-winning SIP-based HiPath VoIP platforms, its HiPath Wireless portfolio and the recently announced HiPath MobileConnect, along with the relevant Nokia Eseries business devices and Nokia Intellisync Device Management software.

“We see a huge opportunity for enterprise customers to benefit from Fixed Mobile Convergence,” stated Luc Roy, VP Product Planning, HiPath Wireless, Siemens Communications, Inc. “This agreement ensures that Nokia Eseries devices and device management software fully interoperates with our HiPath MobileConnect solution today and in the future, further demonstrating Siemens' commitment to creating the best in class, fully open, mobility solution for our customers.”

The agreement between Nokia and Siemens Communications Inc. lays out design, development and testing standards to give mobile workers advanced capabilities using their dual-mode Nokia Eseries devices in a business FMC solution. Siemens Communications Inc. will now certify dual-mode Nokia Eseries devices as part of its partner program. Also as part of the agreement, Nokia will market and recommend the Siemens solution to its customers and Siemens Communications Inc. is planning to become a reseller of the Nokia Intellisync Device Management solution to its customers. Both parties will officially participate in the other’s respective partner programs, the Nokia Enterprise Zone, the Nokia for Business Channel Program and the Siemens Communications Inc. Technology Partner program.

“Our new relationship with Siemens will make it easier than ever for businesses to manage and support communications, data and applications, giving employees access to one of the most powerful mobility solutions on the market,” said Jay Burrell, vice president, business development, Enterprise Solutions, Nokia. Burrell called the agreement between Nokia and Siemens “an enormous leap forward to help businesses realize the benefits of secure, reliable and well-managed business mobility.”

Siemens' HiPath MobileConnect solution delivers customers significant improvements in reachability, productivity and cellular cost savings by combining call control over the corporate VoIP network, Voice over Wireless LAN and the cellular network. By providing one-number reachability, a single voicemail system and seamless roaming between cellular and corporate WLAN networks, businesses can bypass the cellular network and route calls over the corporate wireless LAN. Ensuring Nokia’s device management and business-optimized mobile devices interoperate with this solution creates a certified robust solution for the enterprise customer.

The HiPath MobileConnect solution will be deployed by Siemens Communications Inc. at select internal sites utilizing Nokia Eseries devices and Nokia Intellisync software and trialed at a number of customer sites during Q2 supported by both companies.
