TXT News Textron Supports Quality and Efficient Health Care
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) announced that it will support the U.S.
Department of Health & Human Services organization in the quest to seek
commitments to embrace quality principals in health care transparency.
In conjunction with the President’s Executive
Order to promote quality and efficient health care, Textron is pledging
support to the Federal Government and other companies and has signed a
commitment statement that was presented at a Rhode Island Health & Human
Services event held on Friday, January 12, 2007, and was hosted by the
New England Council and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
On behalf of Textron’s Chairman, President and
Chief Executive Officer, Lewis B. Campbell, John D. Butler, executive
vice president administration and chief human resources officer, signed
the statement for Textron.
“It is critical that companies have the tools
they need to evaluate health plan providers prior to making any change,
and I am personally encouraging my colleagues at other companies to join
Textron in supporting the Executive Order in their value driven health
care initiatives,” said Butler. “Textron’s
experience shows that common metrics and greater transparency help drive
down health care costs and increases the efficiency and quality of
available plans. In addition, it has shown that it improves employee
access and understanding of health care options, which has a direct
correlation to healthy employees.”
Butler, who also is a director of the HR Policy Association, which
consists of 250 of the nation’s largest
corporations that represent more than 8.2 trillion in combined market
capital and 19 million employees across the U.S., and chairs the Health
Care Quality Reform Initiative, recently oversaw Textron’s
own shift and consolidation to provide offerings that substantially
improved benefits to employees, and transparency was critical during
that evaluation. “Because Textron imposed
uniformity among health care prospects during the process, the company
was able to ensure the most appropriate options for employees, which
provides affordable coverage and helps all employees get the most value
for their healthcare dollars,” added Butler.
