AGWT News Atmospheric Glow Technologies, Inc. and AR Brown Co., Ltd. Announce Distribution Agreement
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Atmospheric Glow Technologies, Inc. (AGT) (OTCBB: AGWT) and AR Brown
Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan announce an agreement under which AR Brown Co.,
Ltd. will operate as the exclusive distributor of AGT’s
PlasmaGen APR-510-S in Japan. The PlasmaGen APR-510-S is a laboratory
instrument that releases nucleic acid in less than two minutes from all
classes of microorganisms including bacteria, bacterial endospores
(e.g., anthrax), yeasts, fungi, and viruses. The release of nucleic acid
is the first step towards detection, identification, and genetic
characterization of microorganisms. The PlasmaGen APR-510-S uses a
parallel set of electrodes, creating uniform plasma that ruptures
microorganisms, releasing the DNA. The extracted DNA can then be used
for further analysis with techniques such as electrophoresis or the
polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
AR Brown Co., Ltd. has an extensive background as a provider of goods
and technical services to the biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical,
automobile, and aerospace industries.
“We believe it’s
very beneficial for AGT to have a presence in Japan, and to have our
technologies further strengthened by AR Brown’s
reputation,” stated AGT President and COO,
Kim Wintenberg. “AR Brown can provide AGT
access to top-quality Japanese scientists as potential end-users, and we’re
excited about the potential opportunities in this area.”
AGT is a publicly traded science and engineering company on the OTCBB
(trading symbol AGWT), and offers an array of products based upon One
Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP(R)) technology.
“Since coming on board this summer, I’ve
been channeling AGT efforts to create additional strategic partnerships
to facilitate commercialization efforts across our wide range of
plasma-enabled technologies in addition to DNA preparation, including
such areas as air purification, decontamination, sterilization, surface
preparations and even treatments for fresh produce and other foodstuffs,”
said AGT CEO, Scott McDonald.
