CMSF News CA Enhances BrightStor Storage Management Solutions with CaminoSoft HSM Technology; Hierarchical Storage Management Capabilities Help Customers Cope with Relentless Growth in Volume of Business Data

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. & ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 2005--Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE:CA) and CaminoSoft Corp. (OTCBB:CMSF) today announced that CA is enhancing its BrightStor line of storage management solutions by licensing CaminoSoft's Managed Server HSM for Windows software.

A policy-based solution that automatically migrates seldom-accessed files from higher- to lower-cost media, Managed Server HSM enables organizations to reclaim first-tier disk storage resources for frequently accessed data while reducing storage management workloads. CA will market the software as BrightStor HSM this fall.

"IT organizations are finding it harder to keep up with enterprise storage demands as data continues to proliferate unchecked across the business," said Chris Broderick, senior vice president and general manager of CA's BrightStor business unit. "By incorporating CaminoSoft's HSM technology into our BrightStor line, we are helping customers further optimize their storage management operations by ensuring that rarely used files don't consume costly, limited, online drive capacity."

According to a Gartner, Inc. report titled "Forecast: Storage Management Software, Worldwide, 2002-2009," the worldwide storage management software market will reach $9.4 billion in 2009 for a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.9 percent. The worldwide HSM and archiving segment is projected to grow at a CAGR of 33.2% to $1.3 billion.(a)

Managed Server HSM is a key component of CaminoSoft's family of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions. It controls file retention and deletion decisions based on customized policies, eliminating wasteful use of storage resources so companies can better control their IT infrastructure costs. By intelligently managing data migration, it can also dramatically reduce the time needed for backup and recovery.

Managed Server HSM complements CA's BrightStor solutions. By implementing these solutions, CA customers can better leverage their storage infrastructure investments and effectively protect critical data assets across mainframe and distributed platforms in a common manner. BrightStor solutions also enable managers to make informed decisions about resource allocation based on the business value of data assets and specific operational requirements, optimize the efficiency of backup and restore processes, and improve staff productivity.

"We are very pleased that CA has selected CaminoSoft's Managed Server HSM software as the file migration technology for its BrightStor storage management solutions," said Steve Crosson, chief operating officer at CaminoSoft. "As a result of our partnerships with industry leaders such as CA, CaminoSoft has become recognized as a leader in the ILM/HSM marketplace."
