CRGO News Cargo Connection Logistics Holding, Inc. Becomes Registered FEMA Hurricane Relief Drop Station; Company Imposes Emergency Fuel Surcharge
INWOOD, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 2005--Cargo Connection Logistics Holding, Inc. (OTCBB:CRGO), today announced its wholly owned subsidiary, Cargo Connection Logistics Corp., is now registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as an emergency drop station for relief goods going to areas stricken by Hurricane Katrina.
In coordination with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, FEMA is providing mass care to disaster victims at shelters and medical units across the Gulf Region and distributing vital medications and supplies, tetanus vaccines, and maintenance medications for diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, anxiety and other conditions.
"This is unquestionably one of the greatest disasters to strike our nation and we are committed to assisting the relief effort in any way we possible can," said Jesse Dobrinsky, president of Cargo Connection Logistics Corp. "We've offered the use of our warehouse facilities in Atlanta, Miami, New York, Chicago and Columbus as well as our transportation equipment (i.e. 53 foot trailers and roller beds designed to haul air freight containers).
"Unfortunately, the storm has also had a catastrophic impact on transportation nationwide, particularly on fuel prices," added Dobrinsky. "As a result, we are imposing a temporary emergency surcharge as a contingency measure for all shipments that are either destined to or originating from the southeast region. In particular, this relates to the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina. Please understand this is just a means for us to recoup additional costs brought about by this travesty.
"There is also a shortage of drivers and carriers going to and from these affected areas," said Dobrinsky. "We've appealed to all of our clients to exercise patience with regard to potential delays and, of course, the increased costs. As soon as the situation normalizes, we will rescind the surcharge."
