Cirond Corporation (OTCBB:CROO), a global provider of network security solutions that protect wired and wireless networks against the rapidly growing threat arising from the deployment of unauthorized wireless devices, today announced that NBC 5, the NBC television affiliate station in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, has aired an exclusive interview and demonstration of the WiPhishing wireless laptop vulnerability by Cirond CEO Nicholas Miller.
The full report can be seen on the NBC 5 Web site at: http://cf.nbc5i.com/dfw/sh/videoplayer/video.cfm?id=4459208&owner=dfw and a Web site story about it can be read at: http://www.nbc5i.com/consumer/4456438/detail.html.
In the interview, Mr. Miller explains and demonstrates the WiPhishing vulnerability and shows how a hacker with a laptop and a wireless access point can drive around a city and cause wireless laptop computers to wirelessly connect to his laptop -- thereby allowing him to potentially steal data from the victim's laptop.
"We were delighted to work with the NBC 5 news team to bring this serious network security vulnerability to the public's attention," said Mr. Miller. "We believe that the WiPhishing threat represents the largest single, unaddressed network security vulnerability since the advent of the Internet."
Cirond recently announced a suite of network security solutions to combat this vulnerability and allow individuals, governments and corporations to make the wireless-equipped laptops securing from WiPhishing.
