CYDY News CytoDyn Uses Optional Web Movie for ``Doctors-Versus-Bankers'' Compromise
SANTA FE, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CytoDyn, Inc. (OTCBB:CYDY), an emerging growth biotechnology company,
has placed a short movie clip (4.8 MB) on its web site at www.cytodyn.com.
The movie can be downloaded and played by clicking on a link that
appears on the Company’s Home Page. This can
also be accomplished by clicking on the Company’s
logo, which appears on every page of the web site. However, the movie
clip will not be downloaded or played unless a visitor opts-in for the
movie.
According to CytoDyn’s CEO, Allen D. Allen,
today’s investment bankers expect corporate
web sites to dazzle the investment community with a Flash movie that
plays immediately when a browser goes to the corporate site. Yet,
surveys have consistently shown that adults often use the Internet as a
reference source and may find the Flash movies a nuisance if not an
irritant.
Many corporate sites now include a “Skip Intro”
button on their Flash movies to accommodate both the needs of their
visitors and the expectations of Wall Street. However, Allen believes
that forcing visitors to opt out of a movie after it is already playing
reflects a measure of insensitivity toward the needs and feelings of
concerned AIDS patients, physicians, and academicians who visit CytoDyn’s
web site in order to mine information about cutting-edge, immune-based
therapeutics.
“Although we recognize the need to include
multimedia elements on our web site,” Allen
said, “we believe that the optional movie
reflects a more professional attitude toward the life-and-death issues
that arise from our mission of developing first-in-class drugs for
serious human disease.”
