DPRI News Diversified Product Inspections, Inc. and University of Tennessee Art Department Team Up for Sculpture Project
OAK RIDGE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Diversified Product Inspections, Inc. (OTCBB: DPRI), a provider of
independent product failure analysis, air contamination and fire
investigations for the insurance industry announced today a joint
project with the University of Tennessee (UT) Art Department to have a
sculpture class create unique sculptures using failed products that were
inspected by DPI, which will be displayed outside DPI’s
office headquarters.
Warren Wankelman, Vice President of Marketing, stated, “The
sculpture students will take failed products, which DPI has in storage
and that are scheduled for disposal, and turn them into creative pieces
of art sculpture. The finished pieces will be placed outside DPI’s
headquarters in a small landscaped park setting and will be called the “Field
of Failures.” Each sculpture will be
identified by the product type and the artist who created it.
“Professor Jason Brown brought his class to
DPI on September 28, 2006 for a brief orientation on DPI’s
forensic investigation business. The students toured the facilities and
selected the types of failed products they wanted to use in their piece
of sculpture. The next step will be when DPI delivers the items (water
heaters, washing machines, dryers, supply lines, copper tubing, and many
others) to UT’s sculpture classroom on the
Knoxville campus.
“This will be a unique experience for the
students to use unorthodox materials to create a work of art. It is also
a unique chance for DPI to gain publicity for our services and the
people driving by our office to view failed products displayed in a very
different way.”
