ELEC News eLEC Communications Expands VoIP Network
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 2005--eLEC Communications Corp. (OTCBB:ELEC) today announced that it has begun construction of an additional Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) point of presence (PoP) in Orlando, Florida. This facility is designed to support a rapid increase in VoIP traffic driven by the company's wholly owned VoIP subsidiary, VoX Communications Corp.
"While our existing network continues to support new customers nationwide, we are quickly seeing the need to stay ahead of demand with additional PoPs," said Mark Richards, President of VoX. "Our packet switched network, which utilizes proprietary softswitch technology and an innovative server cluster configuration allows us to quickly expand network capacity in multiple locations to support a growing customer base and provide a high level of redundancy. The Orlando PoP will be our largest and highest capacity facility. With the demand in minutes that our wholesale customers are projecting, we are also now planning a PoP in the Denver area."
"Despite the size and sophistication of the Orlando PoP, we will continue to have the lowest known port cost per subscriber in the industry," said Paul Riss, eLEC's CEO. "We know of no other VoIP company that can react to industry demand and expand its facilities as efficiently as VoX. Not only does our VoIP technology provide high quality voice traffic, it scales in a very economical manner. With this robust technology and our recent round of funding, eLEC is now positioned to manage its wireline business for cash flow and focus all incremental resources on its VoIP services."
