Hitachi and BANDAI NAMCO Demonstrate Fonix Speech Technology at WIRED NextFest(TM) 2007
.Fonix Speech, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary ofFonix Corporation (OTCBB: FNIX) specializing in embedded speech interfaces for mobile devices, handheld electronic products, video game systems and processors, announces that Hitachi and BANDAI NAMCO will demonstrate Fonix DECtalk text-to-speech (TTS) technology at the fourth annual WIRED NextFest™ event at the Los Angeles Convention Center, September 13th – 16th.
Hitachi and BANDAI NAMCO Group of Tokyo have developed an exhibit specifically for NextFest that demonstrates Hitachi’s device capabilities in the medical industry. The demonstration involves a machine measuring blood flow to the brain and features Fonix DECtalk TTS technology. Hitachi has no plans to manufacture or market a commercial device based on the demonstration; it was created specifically for WIRED NextFest as a means of showcasing Hitachi’s creativity and forward-thinking technological design.
The Fonix DECtalk TTS technology used in the demonstration was previously used by BANDAI NAMCO to develop the TalkingAid Wireless device. The TalkingAid, which was introduced to the assistive market in late 2006, is a portable communication aid designed to help persons with hearing and speech impairments.
