Hybrid Technologies Inc. (HYBR.OB) Weekly Recap 5/30/08
Hybrid Technologies Inc. (HYBR.OB) Building Green Speed Vehicle Thursday, May 29th, 2008
Hybrid Technologies Inc (HYBR.OB), based in Mooresville, NC, is currently developing a Tesla-inspired sportscar. Hybrid plans on developing an all-electric version that will be targeted for production and a gas-electric hybrid version that will be entered into the “Automotive X Prize” competition with Popular Mechanics (PM). Hybrid expects a drivable hybrid prototype, also known as X Prize car, to be completed by September 2008.
Ron Cerven, a Hybrid project development engineer, stated, “We’re looking for this car basically to end up mainstream—not just built for a one-and-done. The X Prize car is going to be the purchasable—obviously a higher-end car, but there might be something else from us in the X Prize.”
Cerven said that the X Prize car’s design will center on the drivetrain and the passenger’s comfort. He also added that the X Prize car would retain regenerative breaking and movable aero parts to alter the car’s drag and downforce.
Hybrid’s development team is targeting a driving range of between 150 to 180 miles per charge with its all-electric model. The team is targeting a minimum of 220 miles per charge for the gas-electric hybrid model.
PM asked Cerven if the X Prize car would hit the 600+ horsepower level reached by the 2009 Corvette ZR1 it tested in April. Cerven responded that PM was “way out of the ballpark—it’s gonna be wild.”
Hybrid Technologies Inc. (HYBR.OB) Filming Begins for Treasure HD Channel Program on DISH Network Tuesday, May 27th, 2008
Memorial Day marked the first day of filming at Hybrid Technologies’ research and development facility in Mooresville, NC. The filming is for an upcoming program on the Treasure HD Channel, where the company will be featured in a segment about lithium-powered vehicles. Hybrid Technologies, a clear leader in the field of lithium battery-powered products, will be the focus of the show as a result of their cutting-edge research and development of emission-free electric vehicles.
The program is scheduled to be aired in the upcoming month, and will take an in-depth look at how the company takes fuel powered automobiles and transforms them into emissions-free, eco-friendly vehicles. The engineering and design team will also be featured for their efforts to brainstorm new looks for Hybrid Technologies green vehicles. This feature should go a long way to helping Hybrid gain valuable international exposure for its hard work.
Hybrid Technologies has been featured locally and nationally on television and in print, but this will be one of its rare chances at international exposure. DISH Network broadcasts this program all across North America, but it is also syndicated in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Treasure HD airs on the Dish satellite network (channel 9473), on the East Coast on Cablevision (channel 724), and in more than forty countries worldwide. The network is dedicated to pursuing stories about people and their passions.
Expensive Oil Forces the Media to Take a Deeper Look at Emerging Technology from Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB) Tuesday, May 27th, 2008
As oil demand continues to rise globally, and the price of gasoline continues ever higher, the media has been forced to look much harder at alternatives. People are clamoring for relief from the spiraling gasoline burden, and the media has realized that the big news isn’t coming out of the Big Three auto manufacturers, but from smaller, more aggressive companies such as Hybrid Technologies, and the media is paying close attention.
Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: HYBR) is the emerging leader in the development and marketing of lithium-powered products worldwide. Their advances in lithium battery technology and power regulation have been making headlines at smaller, more regional newspapers for years. But recently that coverage has become national, as evidenced by the recent major-market media attention that has been focused on the company.
Just last week, the Voice of America broadcasting company, whose network broadcasts to an estimated 115+ million people across the globe, did a 7-minute segment on HYBR’s electric cars and their research and development facility in North Carolina. They highlighted the lithium battery technologies that Hybrid is developing, and their all electric vehicles. But in less than a week’s time we find that even more major media is hot on their trail, as Hybrid’s R & D facility and their engineering design team were just filmed by TreasureHD for a segment on lithium powered vehicles that will be aired in the coming month.
Treasure HD airs nationwide on the Dish satellite network (channel 9473), on the East Coast on Cablevision (channel 724), and in more than forty countries worldwide. Combine that coverage with the Voice of America’s reach, and just these two venues will inform over 150 million people of Hybrid Technology’s capabilities - and these are simply the latest entries in a string of ever-increasing media attention. In just the past two months, Hybrid Techologies has been seen on NBC, ABC, Fox news, Popular Mechanics, Motorsports Industry News, WBT Talk Radio, and many other major carriers.
There was a period not long ago where oil was just $12 dollars a barrel, gasoline was under a buck, and alternative methods of generating energy, or transforming transportation, was simply taken as the ranting of some “fringe” environmental groups. Now, with global warming, $130-dollar oil, $4-dollar gas, and an ever more crowded world, those fringe elements don’t appear to be fringe any longer. They have become mainstream, and the media is focusing on the companies that have a legitimate chance of changing things for the better. Hybrid Technologies is one of those companies, and it’s a pretty sure bet that more media coverage will be aimed at them. Keep an eye out for new developments.
