Hybrid Technologies Inc. (HYBR.OB) Bi-Weekly Recap 8/8/08
Hybrid Technologies Inc. (HYBR.OB) Easing the Demand for Oil Wednesday, August 6th, 2008
Hybrid Technologies, a North Carolina-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is helping consumers around the world do their part towards lowering the global demand for oil. The world has developed a strong dependency on oil, the main reason being gasoline and diesel fuels used to power traditional, internal combustion-powered automobiles. Hybrid is helping to alleviate this dependency by producing an affordable and efficient fully-electric vehicle that is also emissions free.
Oil is a diminishing natural resource that - based on current demand projections - could run out in the next forty years! New energy and pollution policies are currently being legislated to help alleviate this problem by easing demand for big businesses, but everyday consumers can also help to lighten the load. A fully electric vehicle from Hybrid Technologies can save the average consumer up to $3500 a year. This is based on the fact that an average consumer spends nearly $3700 a year on fuel costs, while charging one of Hybrid’s vehicles nightly would only cost $200 - $300 annually.
Saving the environment and lessening the demand for oil can actually save money without causing the owner to lose the creature comforts they are used to in most vehicles. Hybrid Technologies vehicles are aesthetically pleasing and enjoy all the standard amenities found in any car, truck or SUV – such as heating and air conditioning, DVD and CD players, power steering, power brakes, and power windows.
In addition to the features offered, the practicality of electric vehicles is improving on a daily basis. Vehicles from Hybrid technologies are capable of reaching speeds of up to 80 miles an hour and traveling over 150 miles on just a single charge. The charges can be provided with a 110- or 220-volt outlet and only take 6 to 8 hours. Every electric vehicle added to the road to replace a traditional automobile saves gas, the environment and money for the operator. With instant results like that, it is hard to make an argument against the clean vehicles offered by Hybrid Technologies.
Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB) - Plug-In 2008 Conference Panelists Agree on Benefits of Lithium-Ion Batteries for Hybrids Friday, August 1st, 2008
Attendees of the Plug-In 2008 Conference in San Jose, California met from July 22 – July 24, 2008 to discuss technological developments and policy initiatives that impact the future of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Participants included representatives of the public and private sectors and academia.
One of the conclusions to emerge from the conference is that lithium-ion battery technology for plug-in hybrid automobiles is destined to replace the nickel-metal hydride battery packs that currently dominate the nascent hybrid market. Lithium-ion batteries pack more storage capacity into a smaller size than nickel-metal-hydride powerpacks. Lithium-ion researchers target achieving a 40-mile driving range between battery charges. According to Haresh Kamath, energy storage project manager for the Electric Power Research Institute, “…we don’t think we can get there with nickel-metal-hydride.”
In validation of the lithium-ion story, automakers Toyota and General Motors plan to roll out plug-in electric vehicle models in 2010. Lithium-ion batteries are expected to become more cost-effective over time, as production volumes ramps up and technologies gradually improve. Environmental concerns and high fuel costs ensure that demand for lithium-ion batteries will continue to blossom. With its own proprietary LiV™ line of all-electric hybrid vehicle alternatives, Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB) is well positioned to take full advantage of this long-term trend.
