IBDI News Wilma, No Match for iBill
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2005--Internet Billing Company, LLC. ("iBill") announced today that it is back in full swing after the near catastrophic hit endured by South Florida, last week. Wilma ripped through Broward County as a category 3 Hurricane, doing extensive damage to the area and causing many businesses to close down, at least temporarily. With electric power and water knocked out at its corporate headquarters for nearly a week, iBill continued its credit card processing, without interruption.
According to iBill's president, Gary Spaniak, "Our servers are protected by separate generators that allowed us to continue processing new transactions, throughout the crisis." Some fancy footwork was needed to keep the generators fueled with the necessary diesel during the first few days following the storm.
iBill's offices, which are located in Deerfield Beach, Florida, remained closed until yesterday, when power was finally restored to the building. A scaled back staff began the almost overwhelming task of answering phone messages and e-mails, reassuring clients that their concerns were being addressed as quickly as possible. The difficulty of obtaining gasoline and basic necessities like water and food has made it extremely difficult for people to return to their normal lives. "Expectations are for almost all departments to be fully staffed by the end of this week, allowing for people to take care of their homes and families prior to having to report," Spaniak added.
This storm was a true test of iBill's commitment to its clients. Every new transaction for gkard, web900, Discover and American Express as well as check processing was handled on time and will continue to be so, in the future.
