“Smart Pillbox” for Patient Medication Adherence Wins Prestigious Award in Conjunction with World’s Largest Consumer Technology Trade Show
Recognition For Device That Makes Medication Safe and Easy
InforMedix Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: IFMX, http://www.informedix.com/) has been honored with a 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovations Design and Engineering Award in the healthcare category for the Med-eMonitor™ System for medication adherence and health management. CES is the world’s largest consumer technology trade show, and North America’s largest annual trade show of any kind.
InforMedix’s Med-eMonitor System is an interactive “smart pillbox” for monitored medication adherence. In addition to storing medications, providing reminders regarding when and how to safely take each medication, and tracking patient adherence to their medications and their health status, the Med-eMonitor provides caregivers and loved ones with real-time alerts when patients miss their meds or their health declines. The American Society on Aging and American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation estimate that medication non-adherence causes 125,000 unnecessary deaths per year, resulting in a three hundred billion dollar healthcare problem. The device is expected to be especially helpful for members of the “sandwich generation,” baby boomers negotiating the responsibilities of caring for elderly parents while raising young children.
“Everyone at InforMedix is ecstatic over this prestigious recognition,” said Bruce A. Kehr, MD, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of InforMedix. “We are especially delighted at the Consumer Electronics Association’s honoring our potentially life-saving smart pillbox—which makes medication safe and easy—alongside the boldest new designs in entertainment and personal electronics. We’re proud to find the Med-eMonitor included with the other honorees in our category at the largest trade show in North America.”
An independent audit in 2007 by VERIS Consulting, LLC, confirmed CES’ stature as the world’s largest consumer technology trade show, and North America’s largest annual trade show of any kind, reporting that the industry trade show drew a record 27,020 international attendees from 140 countries, with overall attendance totaling 143,695 industry professionals during CES’ four-day run in Las Vegas, Nev., January 8-11, 2007. The 2008 International CES will be held from January 7-10, 2008 at the Sands Expo Convention Center at the Venetian and the Las Vegas Convention Center at the Las Vegas Hilton.
