Some states are requiring the power company to pay "retail rates" for surplus electricty produced.
It helps by providing more capacity when it is real hot and the power needs are high
The new sources are almost always cleaner than the power from a power plant.
Our state pays wholesale, I have a friend that is putting up a wind tower sized 3 times higher than his needs It is a verticle squirell cage design versus those huge props you see on TV often.
