IZZI News Integrated Security Systems, Inc. Launches City Evacuation Technology

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 2005--Integrated Security Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:IZZI) today announced a major thrust in technology to assist in the safe and expedient evacuation of large metropolitan areas and cities. The company's market leadership position in road and bridge vehicular barriers and gates and in anti-terrorist crash barriers will now be blended to produce unique systems to alleviate traffic jams such as seen with the recent hurricanes in Louisiana and Texas. The company is currently implementing a trial system in one of the US's major cities.

"The requirements for city evacuation fit our capability very well," said C. A. Rundell, Jr., Chairman and CEO of ISSI. "The needs for non-lethal or 'soft-stop' barriers were successfully met in a recent Houston HOV Lane job and are under evaluation for Chicago. The recent turmoil in hurricane evacuation has underlined the need for more comprehensive systems and positive traffic management. Therefore, we are placing special effort on developing this segment of our business."

ISSI's B&B ARMR subsidiary has 80 years experience in the road and bridge barrier business and has a leading market share in the "draw bridge" barrier market. Since 2003, the company has been in the anti-terrorist barrier market with gates, wedges, and bollards that meet Department of State crash test standards. B&B ARMR is one of the leaders in this arena.

"As we have seen, the consequences of a natural disaster such as hurricanes Katrina or Rita are as significant and devastating as that of a terrorist's dirty bomb. We now have the ability to provide automated gates and barriers to direct traffic in an intelligent manner, based on situationally defined events," stated Peter D. Beare, CEO and President of the B&B ARMR division of ISSI. "With a well planned video network, our barriers can be remotely operated to control congestion, direct flow, and compartmentalize problems areas. We can tailor a solution to the level of need of any city," Beare continued.
