OPTO News Lompoc Hospital Selects Optio's Electronic Health Record (EHR), Document Archive and Imaging Solutions
ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Optio® Healthcare
today announced that Lompoc Hospital, a 60-bed, rural California
facility has selected Optio’s
subscription-based, Electronic Health Record (EHR), document archive and
imaging solutions to improve the quality of patient care by accelerating
the timely exchange of healthcare information.
“With Optio’s
multi-level EHR solution, everything that happens during a patient’s
visit will be recorded electronically,” said
Jim White, Lompoc Hospital’s Chief Information
Officer.
Lompoc expects Optio’s solution to deliver
increased efficiencies without delay. “If we
can get the patient’s information to the
doctor quickly, we’re providing better
healthcare,” he states. “Before
Optio, if a physician wanted to look at a patient’s
chart, it would be a cumbersome process. He or she wouldn’t
expect to see that chart right away, because it had to be resurrected
from the archives,” said White. “The
ability for the doctor to access the patient’s
file in an easy-to-read format will definitely enhance the ability to
treat the patient quickly.”
Lompoc’s CIO cited ease-of-use and
subscription-model pricing as the main reason for his decision to go
with Optio. “We are a small, rural hospital –
we can’t always go out and purchase the
expensive systems because we can’t afford it.
We really liked Optio because their healthcare technology was developed
with the small hospital in mind,” said White.
Optio’s first touch with the patient’s
healthcare record will start with electronically capturing the patient’s
signature on registration forms. Once the patient has been treated, they
intend to immediately move any paper-based data from their HIS system to
Optio’s EHR. Lompoc will then fill in any
paper exceptions to the patient’s electronic
chart by scanning documents with Optio’s
Imaging Solution, which provides intelligent data capture of all types
of healthcare information.
“From the very first encounter with the
patient, we want to capture everything electronically. As soon as a
patient leaves the hospital, we’ll move their
paper-related data off of the HIS system and onto Optio’s
EHR,” White explained.
“We’re delighted
to be chosen by Lompoc as their EHR solution provider,”
said Mike McGuire, Optio’s senior vice
president and general manager of healthcare sales and service. “This
partnership is further proof of Optio’s
ability to provide small hospitals with the technology needed to deliver
quality care.”
