PBME News Pacific Biometrics to Present at the 2006 AACC Annual Meeting in Chicago; Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Elizabeth Leary will present results of novel IVD tests
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 2006--Pacific Biometrics, Inc. (OTCBB: PBME; "PBI"), represented by its Chief Scientific Officer, Elizabeth Leary, Ph.D., will be featured at the 2006 AACC Annual Meeting, July 23 through July 27, at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.
This year's event, held annually for clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists and others involved with clinical chemistry laboratory science, will feature interactive workshops and poster presentations, as well as the largest clinical laboratory exposition in the world. At the Denka Seiken-sponsored industry workshop, Dr. Leary will present "Small dense LDL: Method validation and relationship with severity in stenosis." During the poster sessions, she will co-present two posters: "Multicenter evaluation of a new HDL-cholesterol reagent on Roche/Hitachi and Cobas Intergra systems," and "Clinical utility of markers of bone resorption and bone formation on Roche Diagnostics Elecsys systems."
"These presentations address highly specialized areas -- investigating the performance and clinical utility of novel in vitro diagnostic assays that relate to cardiovascular risk and bone metabolism, two key focus areas for PBI," Dr. Leary said. "There is a continuing need for improved diagnostic assays that can serve as surrogate endpoints in clinical trials as well as for routine patient care, especially in the context of treatment monitoring. At PBI we provide specialized laboratory services to support diagnostic product development, which in turn is synergistic with our lab services for clinical drug development."
PBI, a provider of unsurpassed central laboratory and contract research services for more than 70 of the world's leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and laboratory diagnostic manufacturers, will showcase its expertise and 17 years' experience for prospective clients and partners, as well as competitors and other companies, in attendance at this year's meeting. As a result of its business development initiatives begun about two years ago, PBI has expanded its reach to include a greater diversity of clients than ever before, and the Company plans to use the AACC Annual Meeting to highlight its advancements over the last year, as well as attract additional interest in its services and technologies.
"This meeting, a must-attend annual event, provides the ideal opportunity for Pacific Biometrics to share its expertise," said Ronald R. Helm, Company Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "With our ever-expanding portfolio of clients and the constant development of our lab services and proprietary diagnostic technologies, we believe we provide a unique blend of lab services to our pharma and diagnostic clients, as Dr. Leary will demonstrate through her workshop and poster presentations."
Established in 1989, PBI provides specialized central laboratory and contract research services to support pharmaceutical and diagnostic manufacturers conducting human clinical trial research.
