PMED News Paradigm Medical Industries to Introduce Several New Instruments at AAO Convention
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Paradigm Medical Industries, Inc. (OTCBB: PMED/PMEDW), a leading
innovative producer of ultrasound devices for the ophthalmic and medical
industries, disclosed today it has finalized an agreement with Tinsley,
a division of Hartest Precision Instruments, Ltd. (Croydon, UK), whereby
the latter will construct a new-generation compact Visual Field Screener
(VFS) Perimeter on behalf and for Paradigm Medical. The new LD700
Perimeter measures visual field loss caused by glaucoma, head trauma, or
other neurological disorders that can impact the visual pathways. It
will be marketed by Paradigm Medical on a global scale.
Paradigm Medical’s Dicon™
Perimeters already are a standard of care in the protection and
monitoring of glaucoma worldwide.
“The LD700 will be our third-generation
perimeter,” noted Paradigm Medical’s
Chief Executive Officer, Raymond Cannefax. “It
already has received U.S. Food & Drug Administration and European CE
Mark regulatory approval. We will introduce this new, state-of-the-art
device at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Convention next
month in Las Vegas.”
Paradigm Medical reported it will also be launching domestically several
other sophisticated ultrasound devices and instruments at AAO, some of
which have been developed via its agreement with MEDA Corp., one of China’s
leading developers and producers of ultrasound devices. That agreement
was completed in June 2006. Paradigm Medical is already selling some of
these devices in international markets, where customer response has been
very positive.
The new instruments include an Ultrasound A-Scan (which is used to
measure axial length of the eye), a Pachymeter (which is used for
measuring corneal thickness), an A-Scan/Pachymeter (which is a
combination of the two stand-alone devices), and two A/B Scans (one is
an ultrasound imaging device for detecting abnormalities within the eye;
the second is designed to provide portability for ophthalmology
veterinary applications).
“We are unaware of any other company that has
introduced so many ophthalmic devices/instruments at any one time within
the industry,” Mr. Cannefax said. “It
represents further validation of our strategy to upgrade the Company’s
product offerings and broaden the global market opportunity for
sophisticated, high-tech, high-value-added instrumentation for the
detection, treatment and management of ophthalmic disease.
“We believe our expanded portfolio should
provide our customers, suppliers, competitors and employees with
evidence that Paradigm Medical is making significant progress in
repositioning itself as a strong force in the global ophthalmic market.
We have also shown that we can work with other industry leaders in
creating next-generation instrumentation to combat eye disease,”
Mr. Cannefax added.
Paradigm Medical Industries, Inc. (Salt Lake City, UT), currently
develops, manufactures and markets high-tech, proprietary diagnostic
equipment and consumable products for the medical industry. The Company
is a leading developer of Ultrasound devices, and has been dubbed “The
