QSGI News QSGI Comments on Personal Data Security During the Holiday Season on CNBC's Squawk Box
HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--QSGI, Inc. (OTCBB: QSGI) today provided commentary regarding the
importance of properly erasing hard drive data from personal and
corporate computers. A link to the interview is available at: http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=158190460&play=1.
In addition to QSGI’s corporate suite of
services, utilized by many of the leading Fortune 500 companies, QSGI
offers a personal and small business edition of its data erasure
software at www.eraseyourharddrive.com.
Seth Grossman, president and chief operating officer of QSGI, stated, “The
first thing anyone should do when either donating, selling or handing
down their PC is to make sure that they remove all personal data. Not
making sure that your hard drive is thoroughly erased is one of the
leading causes of data theft and data security breaches.”
Most PC users believe that deleting personal data files and emptying
trash is an effective method of data erasure. Even computer
professionals believe that reformatting the hard drive erases all the
hard drive’s contents. The truth is that both
of these methods only remove the “pointers”
to where the data still resides.
QSGI recommends all consumers and corporations utilize software that
erases hard drives no less than 3X, in order to be compliant with the
Department of Defense standards for hard drive sanitization, and which
automatically generates a certificate of erasure following a
verification pass to ensure successful data erasure.
Mr. Grossman cited a recent MIT study in which more than 1,000 computers
were purchased on the open market. The study found that a significant
percentage of these computers had highly sensitive personal data which
could have easily led to identity theft.
QSGI is the only data security and regulatory compliance provider
offering a full suite of end-of-life and other life-cycle services for a
Fortune 1000 corporation’s and government
client’s entire information technology (IT)
platform. QSGI offsets its clients’ expenses
through its value-added remarketing program. Prior to resale, the
company utilizes its proprietary Department of Defense (DOD) level
certified data sweep to eliminate otherwise recoverable data. QSGI
reduces its clients' potential liability by ensuring regulatory and
environmental compliance for IT products. QSGI also maintains and
provides services on enterprise-class hardware, including mainframes,
midrange servers, tape storage products and disk storage products. Given
the sensitive nature of the company’s client
relationships, it does not provide the names of its clients.

expectations, including future revenues and earnings, and all other
statements in this press release other than historical facts are ‘forward-looking

of the Securities Act of 1933, Section 21E of the Securities Exchange
