RGBI News International Symposium Features Latest CMI(TM) Data
FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 2005--Varese, Italy, was the site of an international symposium focused on Healing Response and Tissue Engineering. Several presentations featured the CMI from ReGen Biologics, Inc. (OTC:RGBI), including two live CMI surgeries. The CMI is a type I collagen implant designed to facilitate growth of new tissue to replace removed or missing meniscus tissue in the human knee.
"This symposium provided an excellent opportunity for surgeons to present and discuss the latest data on meniscus injury and treatment options, as well as a forum to review the newest CMI clinical results and recent advancements in surgical technique," commented William Rodkey, Chief Scientific Officer for ReGen Biologics. "We appreciate the academic organization by the Department of Orthopedic Science and Traumatology 'Mario Boni', of the University of Insubria-Varese," continued Dr. Rodkey.
The symposium faculty included well-known orthopedic surgeons and academicians from Belgium, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the United States. Over 70 physicians, physiotherapists, and practice nurses attended.
Commenting on the meeting, Gerald E. Bisbee, Jr., Ph.D., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ReGen Biologics added, "There is tremendous interest in restoring meniscus tissue among orthopedic and sports medicine surgeons and patients. The attendance at this meeting is a clear reflection of that interest. We're pleased with the association of such a distinguished faculty and Xmedica, ReGen's distribution partner in Italy."
A summary of the meeting, including key conclusions from the presentations, will be prepared by the company for distribution to European physicians unable to attend the symposium. The summary will also be available on the ReGen website under the "Events" section.
