SKYY News SKYE International Using Siemens Technology in New Tankless Electric Water Heaters
CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2006--SKYE International, Inc. (Pink Sheets:SKYY) today announced that the new FORTIS(TM) line of patented, high-performance tankless electric water heaters will include components from Siemens Energy and Automation, Inc. (NYSE:SI).
According to Thomas Kreitzer, President of SKYE, a company that manufactures high-end appliances, SKYE chose Siemens as the supplier of one of the most mission-critical components in the FORTIS(TM) line of tankless electric water heaters. The component, called the Siemens Sirius SC solid state relay, switches the heating power on and off.
According to Kreitzer, Siemens embodies the reputation for quality and engineering excellence.
"We examined the products of other solid state relay suppliers and were not convinced that they would be able to fulfill our demand for quality and maximum longevity," said Kreitzer.
Among other benefits, the Sirius SC relay offers a fault-proof method of connecting to the heater because there is only one way it can be connected. This elimination of error exemplifies what SKYE is striving for.
According to Kreitzer, the move to a solid state relay approach to heating water is a major advantage in the design and is also a key differentiator from the competition.
"No other water heater uses this technology," said Kreitzer. "The Siemens investment is a testament to SKYE's commitment to quality over cost. Siemens' solid state relay can switch the heater on up to 1,000 times a minute," he said. According to Kreitzer, SKYE believes that the Siemens components are one of the myriad advantages that the FORTIS(TM) offers consumers.
"The introduction of the FORTIS(TM) line into the marketplace means that American families can enjoy endless hot water while saving energy with this ultra-efficient appliance," he said.
Kreitzer said the FORTIS(TM) line will be available to consumers this fall as the manufacturing process began following the announcement of SKYE's first purchase order with Florida-based Jabil Circuit, Inc. (NYSE:JBL).
