SSBX News Silver State Bank Appoints Susan Lydon and Gina Gentleman Directors of Women's Business Group

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2006--Silver State Bancorp (OTCBB: SSBX) President and Chief Executive Officer Corey L. Johnson recently announced the appointment of Susan Lydon and Gina Gentleman as joint directors of the Silver State Bank Women's Business Group, an information source for women business owners. Lydon, a senior vice president, and Gentleman, an assistant vice president, both currently serve as commercial loan officers at the bank's Lakes lending office.

As the nation's population of women business owners began to steadily increase, the need for a financial group geared toward women arose in Nevada. According to the Center for Women's Business Research, nearly half of all privately held firms across the nation are now 50% or more women-owned. These firms employ more than 19 million people and generate nearly $2.5 million in annual sales. In fact, the center states that women-owned businesses in the United States are growing at twice the rate of all privately held firms. This trend is no different in Nevada. According to the center's report based on data compiled from the U.S. Bureau of the Census, Nevada was ranked the highest in growth of privately held firms in which more than 50% of them were women-owned businesses between 1997 and 2004. Women have become leaders in the nation's workforce, but are still having to face male bank executives to obtain loans to fund their businesses.

Launched in November 2002, the Women's Business Group was designed to meet the needs of local women business owners and executives by creating a forum where women feel more comfortable requesting financial assistance for personal finances, existing businesses or start-up companies, because they are able to speak face-to-face with female lenders.

Currently, the group also serves as an information source to women business owners by providing quarterly educational roundtables with knowledgeable, motivational guest speakers and other resources to introduce current business issues in the Las Vegas market. The Women's Business Group is committed to providing women with a network of referrals and resources on issues including investing, insurance products, and estate and retirement planning.
