TCPS News TechnoConcepts Names former Russian ''Star Wars'' R&D Director to its Scientific Advisory Board; Expert's Initial Efforts to Support Homeland Security Project
VAN NUYS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2006--TechnoConcepts, Inc. (OTCBB: TCPS), the developer of True Software Radio(TM) (a patented technology which allows wireless devices to communicate seamlessly with each other regardless of broadcast protocols) today announced that Dr. Igor S. Alexandrov, Ph.D., Dr.Sci., a former Russian "Star Wars" R&D Director and current Research Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, was named to the company's Scientific Advisory Board and joined Dr. Dominick J. Schmidt of Stanford University, and Dr. Krishnamurthy Narayanaswamy, who were also named earlier this past year.
An expert in wireless technologies and large scale systems design, Dr. Alexandrov holds an MBA and two doctoral degrees in applied physics and computer science from the Moscow Physics and High Technology Institute. Born in Moscow, Russia, Dr. Alexandrov immigrated to the United States under the Soviet Scientist Immigration Act, which granted "green cards" to leading Russian scientists.
"Dr. Alexandrov, who holds 28 patents in the fields of radio electronics and applied physics, brings a wealth of expertise to our growing company," said Antonio Turgeon, chairman and CEO of TechnoConcepts. "He has served as a senior scientist and manager with numerous companies, providing strong managerial leadership and achieving internationally recognized success in the conceptualization, research, development and implementation of leading-edge technologies and heterogeneous large-scale complex systems for defense, homeland security and civilian applications," said Turgeon.
"I am pleased to be a part of TechnoConcepts' think tank. I believe there are very significant applications for this unique technology, and not only for wireless communications. This technology has a great potential in industrial and consumer applications in the mass market in the nearest future. The revolutionizing concept of 'analog-less' signal processing will dramatically change size, power consumption and functionality of myriads of consumer devices, from cell phones to cars electronics, home appliances and HDTV. Industrial and scientific applications also are very broad based: high speed communications, RFID readers, medical equipment and numerous other applications. I am very glad I have this opportunity, after the years I have spent doing strategic weapon design to implement my knowledge and experience in such an exciting direction" stated Dr. Alexandrov.
Dr. Alexandrov, currently a research professor of physics and faculty member at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, developed the curriculum "Fundamentals of Radars" on which he lectured graduate students from ITT Avionics. He is also developing a curriculum for a new graduate level course on secure wireless communications. In addition, he has been an associate research fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the International Security Studies Program, Technology Group, focusing on different aspects of international and homeland security. Also he was a co-principal investigator of the National Science Foundation's "National Heterogeneous Wireless Network Test Bed" and a panelist on the NSF Proposals Evaluation Board.
Dr. Alexandrov has published two books and over 50 articles and is a frequent public speaker and academic lecturer. His business experience encompasses more than 20 years in management, design, and deployment of complex large-scale systems, including duties as the Senior Vice President of Technology for a Raytheon-scale Russian defense contractor firm and a principal system architect of the Advanced Technologies Group at EMC Corporation.
About TechnoConcepts
TechnoConcepts Inc. (OTCBB:TCPS) designs, develops and markets semiconductors. The Company has developed and patented True Software Radio(TM), a demonstrated technology that creates convergence for the wireless industry. True Software Radio(TM) can enable cell phones, PDAs, laptops, and other mobile devices with different wireless frequencies, standards, and protocols to communicate directly with each other, across otherwise incompatible networks. When deployed, systems incorporating this technology can also provide cost-effective communications interoperability among police, fire departments and other first responders, enabling them to talk to each other regardless of their different radio systems. TechnoConcepts believes that True Software Radio(TM) is the only software-controlled wireless technology that has been verified to operate across multiple frequency bands. TechnoConcepts' subsidiary, Asante Networks Inc. (Pink Sheets: ASTN) is a leading provider of networking solutions for the small-medium business and education markets. Asante designs, markets and sells a full line of networking products that provide high-performance, reliable and value-based solutions.
