UAMY News U. S. Antimony Announces Signing of Supply Agreement for Concrete Industry
THOMPSON FALLS, Mont.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 2005--United States Antimony (OTCBB:UAMY) announced that Bear River Zeolite Co., Inc has signed a Supply Agreement to provide a minimum of 3,000 tons of zeolite per month as a replacement for Portland cement for the concrete industry. Plans include the engineering and construction of a grinding circuit to produce 300 to 500 tons per day of product at Preston, Idaho. Funding of more than $1,000,000 will be provided by the purchaser of the product. Production is anticipated by the spring of 2006.
The use of zeolite as a replacement for cement has been known since the time of the ancient Romans. Besides increasing the strength of concrete made with Portland cement, zeolite has many other advantages. At the current time, there is a significant shortage of Portland cement in the United States. Prices have increased sharply, and many contractors are unable to work full weeks due to this shortage. The industry is importing clinker, the fundamental constituent of Portland cement, to alleviate the problem.
The Company added that zeolite sales for 2005 will be a new record.
