REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wherify Wireless, Inc. (OTCBB:WFYW), a leading developer of wireless
location products and services, today announced that it will preview the
WheriFind™, the first product in its new
Universal Locator™ family of GPS location
products, at the International CES 2007 show at the Wherify booth at
Booth 35628, South Hall 4. The WheriFind product is intended to provide
consumers and businesses with a range of locating options that include
simple short term monitoring of assets in unfamiliar surroundings,
continuous vehicle location monitoring, and portable communications and
location identification of people and employees that are on the move.
The WheriFind is a small self-contained, battery-powered, fully portable
GSM cellular and GPS locating device with an internal antenna that can
be easily used for the short term location monitoring of any asset or
vehicle. In addition to providing real-time GPS location information,
the device is equipped with a basic voice communications capability. It
will be sold with a choice of accessories allowing the option of
self-installation in any vehicle for continuous location identification
where power is drawn either from an on-board diagnostic port (OBD) or a
cigarette lighter. Since it is equipped with an internal battery power
supply it can also be taken out of the vehicle for more portable
personal locating and communications applications, offering extra safety
and security to consumers and mobile businesses on the road. Leveraging
the same combination of Aided GPS and GSM technology that powers the
award-winning Wherifone™ locator phone, the
WheriFind can provide accurate location information and communications
to users worldwide. Rather than reacting to a theft alarm or emergency,
you can now proactively monitor and locate assets, vehicles or
communicate with key people with a simple push of a button. The
WheriFind will be available in Q2 2007.
“In the last few years we’ve
seen significant market demand for an affordable, flexible, entry-level
GPS location and communications device that can address both mass-market
consumer needs and the needs of mobile businesses,”
said Timothy Neher, CEO of Wherify. “The
WheriFind will help us serve a wide array of basic locating needs of the
market, while future products in the same family will address more
specialized, high-end locating requirements. We also anticipate the very
competitive cost and highly flexible WheriFind uses will create
significant early market demand.”
The small and compact WheriFind is only 3.5 inches long and weighs less
than three ounces. It uses internal GSM and GPS antennae for
communications and location and does not need to be connected to
external antennae. It can be put inside a vehicle either as a standalone
locator/communicator using its internal battery or it can be mounted and
connected to vehicle power via an OBD connector or car charger kit. The
user-friendly Location Service website allows you to schedule one-time
or recurring location requests, post reminders, access and map location
history, and request location results via the web, email or text
messaging.
