XNOM News Xenomics to Present New Data Showing Improved Sensitivity for HIV Diagnostic Capabilities of Transrenal-DNA Technology; Company to Deliver Additional Data on Breakthrough Diagnostic Platform for HIV at AACC Meeting

Xenomics to Present New Data Showing Improved Sensitivity for HIV Diagnostic Capabilities of Transrenal-DNA Technology; Company to Deliver Additional Data on Breakthrough Diagnostic Platform for HIV at AACC Meeting Xenomics, Inc. (OTCBB:XNOM), a developer of next-generation medical DNA technologies, announced today that it will present new research data that demonstrates new, higher level of sensitivity of its Transrenal-DNA (Tr-DNA) technology platform for the safe, simple and accurate detection of HIV in AIDS patients. The latest research, based on a significantly expanded pool of patients, shows the Tr-DNA detection method to have 97.6% accuracy for detection of HIV in patients at different stages of infection including patients with residual disease where viral load levels are often not detected. The new data supplement extends earlier strong results demonstrating the accuracy and advantages of the Company's proprietary Tr-DNA testing technology in the detection of HIV, according to Dr. Randy White, CEO of Xenomics. The Company will present its new findings, and other data about Tr-DNA detection of infectious diseases, on July 27th at the annual meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC). The AACC is one of the molecular diagnostic profession's most important conferences. "In the most recent study of our HIV detection technology, we tested 41 additional patients, bringing the total samples tested to 51," said Dr. White. "We were pleased that our proprietary testing technology for HIV residual infections showed high accuracy of 97.6 percent with no false positives. This is very promising as we continue our progress toward developing a commercially available product." The new study also reinforced certain competitive advantages of Tr-DNA technology over blood-sampling methods. Traditional blood tests are performed on a single tube of blood that usually contains about 10 ml of blood. Xenomics Tr-DNA test uses a routine urine collection that usually is about 70 ml in size "With Xenomics' Tr-DNA method we normally use a few ml of urine, but when we need to increase sensitivity we can take a larger sample. This is not possible with traditional blood-based tests," said Dr. L. David Tomei, the Xenomics scientist in charge of the Company's joint venture with the Spallanzani Institute in Rome, Italy. "In this new study we used 7 ml of random urine, or about 10% of the total collection from the patients. That is one of the strong advantages of our technology, a random urine collection gives us such a large sample to work with that we are confident we can achieve even higher sensitivities by increasing the sample size to 10 ml," Dr. Tomei said. The presentation of Xenomics HIV detection data will be delivered by Dr. Angela Cannes, director at the SpaXen Italia laboratory, a joint venture between Xenomics and the National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome, Italy. Xenomics and SpaXen are conducting research and development into applications of its Tr-DNA to create a new generation of non-invasive detection tests for infectious disease, including HIV, TB and multiple drug-resistant TB. Xenomics is using its Tr-DNA platform to develop a number of completely safe, totally non-invasive, but powerful medical diagnostic tests for a range of infectious diseases, as well as cancers, fetal genetic abnormalities and other medical applications. The AACC presentation will mark the first time Xenomics will present data to the research community regarding use of its Tr-DNA technology platform in detection of infectious diseases, including HIV and tuberculosis. The AACC meeting is scheduled to be held July 24-28 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Xenomics will be joined at the AACC conference by leading researchers and innovative biomedical companies at a meeting expected to draw thousands of laboratory scientists, industry professionals, investors and major media outlets. Last year's meeting, held in Los Angeles, set new records for the number of participants at more than 19,000, plus hundreds of exhibition booths, according to organizers. About the Annual Meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry The joint meeting of the XIX International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry will be held in Orlando, Florida, USA. The meeting will be held at the Orange County Convention Center. For more information, please visit http://www.aacc.org. About Xenomics, Inc. Xenomics is a molecular diagnostic company that focuses on the development of DNA-based tests using Transrenal DNA (Tr-DNA). Xenomics' patented technology uses safe and simple urine collection and can be applied to a broad range of applications, including prenatal testing, tumor detection and monitoring, tissue transplantation, infectious disease detection, genetic testing for forensic identity determination, drug development, and research to counter bioterrorism. Scientists from Xenomics were the first to report that fragments of DNA from normal cell death cross the kidney barrier and can be detected in urine. The Company believes that its technology will open significant new markets in the molecular diagnostics field. Xenomics has three issued U.S. patents covering different applications of the technology for molecular diagnostics and genetic testing and a pending European patent for the same applications. The Company has organized a joint venture to conduct research on infectious disease detection with the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (Instituto Nazionale per le Malattie Infettive "Lazarus Spallanzani") in Rome, in the form of a new R&D company called SpaXen Italia, S.R.L.
