EWKE News Earthworks Animated Z-Force Action-Adventure Property Headed for Theatrical Release; Kindred Media to Distribute Z-Force to Major Theater Chains in Early 2007
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2006--Earthworks Entertainment (OTCBB: EWKE) Head of Brand Management, Cathy Malatesta, announced today that Earthworks has established an arrangement with leading film company Kindred Media to premiere a Z-Force theatrical release in over 35 U.S. cities with a continuing roll-out growth strategy campaign. The initial target date for the premiere is February/March 2007, selected for favorable market release timing.
"The sensational blockbuster performance of action-adventure films like X-Men this past summer testifies to the colossal market that exists for heroes that children audiences can fantasize about and role-play with," said Malatesta. "Z-Force delivers a whole new fantasy world where kids actually are the stars in the show based upon the Asian Zodiac animal of their birth year. Getting Z-Force in movie theaters across the country is the first giant step in our multi-platform launch strategy. We believe that kids will spread the Z-Force word with super ground roots speed propelling Z-Force into the 'must have' category."
Kindred Media Group's President, Jeffrey D. Erb added: "We believe that the Z-Force property has absolutely fantastic revenue generating potential in the U.S. & International markets. Our initial feedback from the marketplace indicates that the time is right for Z-Force to emerge as a very major new franchise brand. Kindred plans to extend the theatrical premieres to the International kids movie market and, working closely with Earthworks, following up with a powerfully aggressive home video sales campaign."
The Z-Force children's entertainment property revolves around the fantastic adventures of normal teens who learn that they possess a secret alter-ego which transforms them into one of the 12 super-hero, costumed characters of the Asian Zodiac, as in the Year of the Tiger, Year of the Dragon, Year of the Dog, Year of the Snake, Year of the Monkey, Year of the Horse and so on.
Every child viewer will become one of the heroes in the show as they actually possess the same power animal characteristics of one of the show's stars through their own Year of Birth. They also have a set of secondary power animal characteristics through their Month of Birth. Never before has an entertainment property offered such uniquely imaginative and extremely personalized role-playing models for viewers.
