Project EverGREEN Schools(TM) is the national education initiative of Partners GREEN (Group for a Renewable Energy Efficient Nation) (www.partnersgreen.org), a nonprofit organization. It is the gateway for information and resources on renewable energy, energy efficiency, environment, and climate literacy in the schools sector. The goal is to help provide a healthy, high-performing learning environment for our nation's students while creating a culture of responsible change in the design, construction, retrofitting, maintenance and operation of America's schools.
Rapid River Superintendent Terri Mileski said, "Our students will have access to hands-on learning experiences and our community will experience the benefits of cleaner air and water from the use of renewable energy technologies. This is a great program consistent with President Obama's cornerstone of renewable energy and education at our nation's schools."
Congressman Bart Stupak stated in a letter of support, "Permit me to lend my support to your efforts to implement your renewable energy and energy efficiency education program in our nation's schools. One of the ways to help our schools reduce cost, save money and accomplish a positive public policy initiative is to assist schools with an energy saving program. Using the local schools as a teaching lab and model to achieve success should prove very beneficial. Having students involved in a project they can have a direct involvement with is a great teaching tool that should translate into action and support for innovative ideas outside of the school building."
